Florence Njideka Chukwuonye is a Nigerian-born, UK-based fiction writer, poet, children's author, performer-poet, and English Language Teacher whose work explores resilience, determination, the consequence of choice, honesty, and the transformative power of words. She has authored seven books, including an anthology and two novellas — Harvest of Sorrow and When the Wind Drops — which examine human choices and their consequences, alongside children's books that champion honesty, determination, and hard work as virtues for young readers to embrace.
Florence combines her love for language with a deep commitment to nurturing minds. Over the years she has served in various leadership and academic roles, including as a Principal, shaping generations of students with dedication and care. Beyond the classroom, she has contributed to the literary community as Welfare Officer and later Vice Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Abia State Chapter, and is currently a member of the African Writers Tribe, the Society of Authors (London), Novelists in London, the Newham Poetry Group, and the Newham Book Club — and is founder and host of the Stratford Creative Fiction Writing Workshop. Through her Book Impact School Project, she brings literature to life for young learners, inspiring them to read, imagine, and grow.
Florence's poems have appeared in the anthologies Lady Dynamique, The Night I Stopped Apologising, Shapes of Happiness, and Colours of Her Soul. Away from her writing, she finds joy in her family as a devoted wife to Mr. Patrick Chukwuonye.
My writing journey began way back in secondary school. I loved literature — I loved reading books, magazines, anything I could get my hands on. That love guided me when it was time to choose my specialty, and I chose the Arts because of my deep love for reading, knowing I wanted to study English Language and Literature at a higher institution.
After completing my higher education, I became an English Language teacher, and even while teaching I was constantly writing — notes, lessons, materials for my students. Teaching only deepened my love for literature and strengthened my resolve to become a known writer in Nigeria and the world at large. To grow in that direction, I joined the Association of Nigerian Authors, Abia State Chapter, the Aba Poetry Club, and the Aba Book Club, all before coming to the UK for my Master's degree.
After finishing my Master's, I still felt I hadn't reached the peak I was striving for — so I joined the Society of Authors, the Newham Poetry Group, and the Newham Book Club, and registered with School for Fiction to sharpen my craft, because I want to impact lives through my writing.
Today, I am proud to have written and published children's books and young adult novellas. But one thing is certain — I have not yet arrived. I am still writing. Still reading. Still learning. Still growing. Still pushing forward to reach that peak.
